Okeechobee County is responsible for the purchase of products and services for all departments under the Board of County Commissioners. We issue purchase orders and contracts and assure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.  Our procurement process is operated in accordance with 
Procurement Policy Amended 5-09-24 valid through 9-30-24 with BOCC approval (v.2) with forms, County Ordinance, Florida Statutes, the Florida Sunshine Law and Cone of Silence to ensure fairness, competition and best value. 

The County's Purchasing policy strives to provide cost savings to county citizens, and maintain an even playing field for all bidders. We have accomplished this goal by developing effective systems, methods and procedures for all County staff and vendors to follow, thereby ensuring maximum return to our citizens/residents.

Statement

The Purchasing division is responsible for small and large purchase procedures, written and verbal quotations, sealed bids and proposals, annual vendor contracts, and professional service solicitation and review in accordance with Okeechobee County Code and the County Purchasing Manual.

Goals and Objectives

• Enhance and progress towards the acceptance of electronic responses to our bidding processes.
• Continue to improve access and procedures for internal and external customers.
• Continue to oversee and approve all purchasing elements for related purchases for the County. 
• Expand the level of service provided to departments and vendors by assisting in contract oversight and enhanced support in obtaining quotations.
